Beginning of the post-doctoral contract. The main objective of our project is to provide advanced computer-vision tools to help surgeons in the diagnosis and treatment of Twin-to-Twin Transfusion Syndrome (TTS).
We defined research objectives with a main focus on 3D reconstruction of the fetal side of the placenta. Our research aims at facilitating the visualization of the environment explored by the surgeon thanks to a fetoscope. Several applications may be considered:
- 3D reconstruction
- 3D mosaicking
- Simultaneous Localisation And Mapping (SLAM) approach
- Augmented reality
We first focused on the optical calibration of fetoscopes. While camera calibration has been extensively studied, few researches address the calibration of an endoscopic system immerged in liquid (and more particularly amniotic liquid). Moreover, different models of fetoscopes are used during a fetoscopy (fiber bundle, GRIN Lens optical system,…).
We started by establishing a State-of-the-Art of fetoscope calibration method and 3D reconstruction in fetoscopy.
